Power Quality & PFC
Stop paying a reactive energy penalty you don’t have to
Free provisional power factor assessment — from your electricity bill or on-site logging.
What is a reactive energy penalty and why am I paying one?
It is a charge for drawing more reactive power (kVArh) than your utility allows, and it appears on your bill every month. Motors, transformers and other inductive loads cause it. Correction removes the charge rather than reducing consumption.
If your site draws more reactive power than your utility allows, you’re likely paying a kVArh reactive energy penalty every single month — on top of your normal consumption charges. As Eskom’s capacity charges rise, that penalty grows. Power factor correction fixes the underlying issue rather than the symptom, typically paying for itself well within the system’s operating life.
How does power factor correction work?
We log your actual power quality, size a capacitor bank against the measured load, and install it. The saving is the penalty you stop paying.
Power Quality Logging
Real-time monitoring of energy consumption and power quality, giving us the data to design the right correction — not a guess.
Power Factor Correction
Capacitor bank design, sizing, and installation to bring your power factor into an efficient, penalty-free range.
Harmonic Filtration
Filtration systems to address harmonic distortion alongside power factor, for genuinely clean, stable power. Harmonics frequently appear on sites with existing solar PV and battery storage.
Phase Failure Protection
Protection systems to prevent and address phase failures, keeping your supply continuous and stable. Coordinated with surge protection where lightning protection is also in scope.
Voltage Stabilisation
Voltage stabilisers and regulators customised to your site’s specific load and equipment sensitivity.
Ongoing Tuning & Reporting
Recurring PFC tuning and reporting contracts to keep your correction system performing as your load profile changes.
Which sites benefit most from power factor correction?
Food processing plants, cold storage facilities, mining operations, commercial shopping centres, and agricultural irrigation farms — anywhere with high kVA demand and motor-heavy or inductive loads.
How do I find out what my power factor is costing me?
