Electrical engineering: design, installation, certification

Protect your plant. Cut your energy costs. Generate your own power.

Estac Engineering is a South African electrical engineering company specialising in lightning protection, power quality and solar with battery storage. We measure first, then design.

Electrical engineering services by Estac Engineering

What we do

Three disciplines, one accountable engineering team.

Lightning Protection

SANS 62305 risk assessment, design and certification. Thatch lodges, industrial plant, schools and commercial buildings. We handle the documentation insurers ask for.

Power Factor Correction

Reactive energy penalties are a monthly charge most sites never question. We log the power quality, prove the number and design the correction.

Solar PV and Battery Storage

Turnkey generation and energy arbitrage, sized against your measured load profile and your actual tariff. Grid-tied, hybrid and weak-grid sites.

Start with the problem

Most clients come to us with a symptom rather than a specification. If one of these sounds like your site, we can work back to the cause.

Rising energy costs

Bills climbing faster than consumption, and no clear picture of why.

A reactive energy penalty

A kVArh charge on the invoice every month that nobody has questioned.

Unreliable supply

Outages, dips and a generator running more than it should.

Compliance requirements

An insurer, auditor or municipality asking for a certificate you do not have.

Equipment failures

Electronics failing repeatedly, often after storms.

Lightning risk

An exposed site, a thatch roof, or cover that depends on a compliant system.

Industrial electrical and lightning protection services

We measure before we specify

A great deal of electrical work in South Africa is quoted from a rule of thumb and a look at the last bill. That is how sites end up with an oversized solar array exporting power nobody pays for, a capacitor bank correcting the wrong thing, or a lightning protection system that will not stand up to scrutiny at claim time.

We work the other way round. Power quality logging, load profile analysis, tariff modelling and structural risk assessment come first. The design follows from the data, and the documentation follows from the design.

Registered engineering

Work carried out and signed off by registered professional engineers, to SANS and IEC standards.

Documentation that holds up

Certificates of compliance, risk assessments and reports in the form insurers, auditors and municipalities actually require.

One team, end to end

Assessment, design, supply, installation and commissioning from a single accountable party, not a chain of subcontractors.

Who we work with

Lodges and hospitality — game lodges, guest houses and boutique hotels, including thatch structures where insurers require a compliant system as a condition of cover.

Industrial and manufacturing — petrochemical, plastics, food processing and cold storage, where demand charges and continuous load make correction and storage worth modelling properly.

Agriculture — processing facilities, packhouses and irrigation, where pumping load can often be shifted off-peak.

Public and commercial — schools, universities, hospitals, shopping centres and industrial park developments.

Insurers and brokers — we work directly with insurers seeking risk-reduction partners, and provide the documentation needed at underwriting and renewal.
